Grown-up decisions or vacation? Vacation.

It’s been busy.  I’ve delivered a few babies. I’ve seen a few patients.  I’ve been pondering job opportunities.  Such is the life of a doctor in training.  Here’s the punch line to that joke.  I am spending a marvelous vacation courtesy of the SC office of Rural Health.   This is residency life.  No kidding.  This morning after a beach run and some outlet shopping, it was time for lectures on Rural Health Care and Medicaid updates.   After the first series, I’m in the market for an office manager.  Can I get someone to do this work for me?!  Wow, all I wanted to do was help people, deliver some babies, prevent and fight disease.  But there’s a whole lot more that has to be done to keep the doors open.   Tomorrow is more brutal but necessary information.  It’s a lot to think about.  Here lately, it’s been one difficult decision after another.  In trying to decide what job opportunities are good and which are straight to file thirteen, you have to decide – OB, or not; inpatient, or not; call, or not.   It’s good you don’t think about these grown-up decisions when you’re deciding what you want to be when you grow up.  Or you may never grow up.
